Being a gamer can be a pretty expensive habit if you're not careful. With some of the biggest new games now coming in at prices as low as $70, it can be hard to justify pulling the trigger on a new game right away. This could be the reason why gamers were found to be mainly playing older games, even though 2023 is a great year for new releases.
It's very common to wait for video game sales before purchasing, and the best deals tend to be on older games. That being said, how much do you feel you can realistically spend on the games you actually want? Are you someone who pays list price (or more) to play a game on day one? Or are you someone who would pay list price (or more) to play a game on day one? Do you always wait until the price is right?
What do you think?
There's no doubt that the best time to save money on a game is not at release. However, new games come out all the time that are well below the $70 threshold and are proving to be hugely successful. A recent example is Palworld, which was released for just $30 and sold over 5 million copies in its first weekend. Also, his recent Steam hit, Content Warning, was initially released for free and saw a huge increase in player numbers.
On the other hand, publishers like Ubisoft offer expensive editions that cost well over $100 months before a game's release. Do you think prices for AAA games these days are reasonable or completely out of control? How much do you think new games really cost?
