This is a summary of the high school varsity team activities held on Monday, May 13th.
soft ball
Bel Air 16, City 0: The Bobcats shut out the No. 1 seed in 3A North Region II. Claire Bowden had two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs. Eva Vecchioni and Elizabeth Zarsona each had two hits, with Vecchioni driving in three and Zarsona driving in two. In the circle, Aubrey Buckmaster pitched well with 1 hit and 13 strikeouts in 5 innings.
Fallston 5, Havre de Grace 4, 8 innings.: The visiting Cougars overcame a four-run deficit and Abagail Mamen hit the winning hit in the eighth inning to defeat the Warriors in the Class 1A district semifinals. Mamen replaced Fallston and went 3-for-3 with a double, one run scored, and four RBIs. Maddie Burns worked 41/3 innings as a reliever, allowing one hit and one walk, with eight strikeouts.
Patterson Mill 10, Harford Institute of Technology 0: The host Huskies had 12 hits and defeated the Cobras in the Class 1A regional semifinals. Patterson Mill was led by Kaylin Parquette (3 runs, 1 RBI), Lily Baldwin (2 runs, 4 RBIs) and Cadence Fistner (2 runs, 2 RBIs). The winning pitcher, Lily Baldwin, pitched five innings, allowing two hits, two walks, and two strikeouts.
Towson 10, Catonsville 7: Olivia Felton and Hannah McElhenney each scored three runs as the Generals won in the 3A North Region I semifinals. S. Martinson won with three hits and two RBIs. Winning pitcher Jelena Gardner had nine strikeouts.
Perry Hall 22, West 0: Winning pitcher Jenna Neff had a perfect game with nine strikeouts in five innings against the host Gators. Perry Hall had 20 hits and scored 13 runs in the first inning of the Class 4A regional semifinal. Madison Carle went 4-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBIs, and one walk.
Dundalk 27, Western 0: Justice Smith and Kenisha Gelpi each had five points on a big offensive day for the Owls. Smith had three hits, including a triple and a home run, and Gelpi had a double and a single. Julie Berger had three RBIs. In the circle, Berger and Oaklyn Johnson combined to strike out 11 batters per batter.
Carver A&T 11, Western Tech 0: The Wildcats (9-10) scored seven runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Wolverines in the Class 1A regional semifinals in Catonsville. Freshman Madison Supple pitched six innings, allowing three hits, two walks, and eight strikeouts. For Carver A&T, Haley Frye (2-for-3) had a home run, two RBIs and two RBIs.
Francis Scott Key 10, South Carroll 0: Winning pitcher Jasmine Klein pitched five innings against the host Eagles in the Class 1A regional semifinals, pitching a no-hitter with two walks and five strikeouts. Francis Scott Key scored six points in the second inning. Emma Tough went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Liberty 13, Catoctin 4: A close game with a one-run difference started with the Lions scoring 10 runs in the top of the seventh inning. Erin Martin was one of six Lions players with two hits and had a team-high five RBIs. Allison Bold added two RBIs. Sophia Steele gave it her all in the circle and won. She had 10 hits and had four strikeouts.
Walkersville 2, Century 1: Jordan Curry did his best in the circle to give the Knights a chance going into the ninth inning. She allowed seven hits and had 11 strikeouts, but Walkersville emerged victorious. Abby Mastria was in charge of Century's solo run.
Mount Hebron 7, Westminster 3: Kaylin Cissna led the Vikings in the Class 3A Southern District I semifinals. She had two hits in four at bats and five RBIs, including the game-winning hit in the fifth inning. Abby Magder also had three hits for Mount Hebron and had nine strikeouts in the win.
Reservoir 11, River Hill 3: Abby Frisvold pitched a complete game with 14 strikeouts and the Gators advanced to the Class 3A South Region II finals. Kyra Walsh led the offense with four hits, including a double, and four RBIs. Andaye Smith had two hits, including a double, and Michelle Mason and Catherine Yurisin each had a double. For River Hill, Cameron Rowe had two home runs and Zoe Pachoka had two hits.
Centennial 8, Southern AA 7: The Eagles gave up a walk in the bottom of the seventh inning on Maddie Reese's single. Maddie Hall reached on an infield hit and stole second base to start the rally. It was one of Centennial's eight steals on the day, with Leila Schroyer and Vera Rider stealing two bases each. Lauren Jensen had four relief innings in the win. Reese, Hall and Julia Braganza each had multiple hits for Centennial. The Eagles advance to the regional finals.
women's lacrosse
Marriott's Ridge 7, Mount Hebron 4: Freshman Katie Reeder led the Mustangs to the Class 3A South Region I title. She scored four times and added one assist, but Vera Boat scored the trick. Kaylin Crozey made nine saves for the Mustangs, who shut out the Vikings in the second half. For Mount Hebron, Olivia Hoover scored twice.
South Carroll 8, Liberty 4: Leah Miller used a ninth-inning draw control to defeat the visiting Cavaliers over the Lions in the Class 1A district final, ending the three-time 1A state champion team's playoff run. Miller had one goal and two assists. Charlotte Harrington and Kathryn Yankle each scored two goals for South Carroll.
Raven Lake 12, Carver A&T 4: The Raiders jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back to win the 1A North Region I championship. Ari Henning scored seven goals in the win. She also caused three turnovers and collected nine ground balls. Sarah Watkies and Grace Landry each scored two points, with Watkies adding five ground balls.

Bel Air 17, Poly 5: The visiting Bobcats used an 8-2 run in the second quarter to break a 2-2 tie and defeat the Engineers in the Class 3A district final. Bel Air was led by Devin Trzeciak (6 goals, 2 assists), Aiden Shugart (5 goals, 4 assists) and Grant Smith (1 goal, 4 assists). Patrick Cook had 10 saves and Tyler Maxwell had three saves for the Bobcats.
Fallston 15, Patterson Mill 2: Landon Mills stopped 12 shots as the Cougars move toward their fourth consecutive region championship. Ian Schwarzendruber and Gage McKenna each scored three goals for the defending 1A state champions. Jacob McMillan had two goals and two assists. McKenna and Nick Nicola also had two assists each.
baseball
Calvert Hall 12, Archbishop Curley 2: In the semifinals of the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference tournament, the host Cardinals defeated the Friars in six innings to take a 1-0 lead. Currie will host Calvert Hall in the second game on Tuesday.
Key School 2, Friends 0: Josh Cummins' double made it 1-2, Wyatt Dowton's RBI made it 1-2, and the Obezags defeated the Quakers in an MIAA C Conference playoff game. Chris Williams pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowed one hit, and had no strikeouts for the win.
