The long-awaited Grand Theft Auto VI will be released in fall 2025.
A narrower window for release dates, previously defined only as 2025, was announced Thursday by publisher Take-Two Interactive.
“We have strong confidence that Rockstar Games will deliver an unparalleled entertainment experience, and our expectations for the commercial impact of this title continue to grow,” Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in a statement.
The news comes as Take-Two posted a $2.9 billion loss for its 2024 fiscal year.
The Grand Theft Auto VI trailer was released on December 4th and has since garnered over 190 million views.
Take-Two's announcement refutes industry rumors that production delays could push the game's release date to 2026.
The latest version of GTA has been awaited for years. Grand Theft Auto V was first released in September 2013.
Since then, GTA V has sold more than 200 million copies, according to the company's latest earnings report. According to IGN's Rebekah Valentine, this is one of the best-selling games of all time after Tetris and Minecraft.
Fans will have to wait even longer to find out a more specific release date for GTA VI, but the fall release date is similar to GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 (originally released in 2018). It coincides with other major Rockstar Games release dates, including October.
