It's arguable that the ideal role model to emulate when deciding on a travel outfit is a supermodel. When your job requires you to spend as much time in the air as you do on the runway, it's only natural that the style-conscious's on-the-go silhouette should earn our approval.
Take model-turned-actress Kaia Gerber, who has been making waves in the international fashion world since she was 16, making her modeling debut at Raf Simons' Calvin Klein Fall/Winter 2017 show during New York Fashion Week. Now a regular on red carpets around the world, including the Met Gala and, more recently, the French Riviera at the Cannes Film Festival, Gerber's off-duty wardrobe is filled with quintessential airport and travel-appropriate outfits.
While much has already been said about her enviable street style, we're keeping our eye on the covetable (and lavish!) pieces she wears to get from point A to point B. This includes not only her oft-worn (and literally punchy) Bec + Bridge trench coats, but also the sophisticated basics that can take you from plebeian globetrotter to Slim Aaron's jet set, as she recently proved in Apple TV+'s 1960s-set limited series, Palm Royal).
For her latest outing, Gerber was decked out in outfits suited to all manner of transportation, including planes, trains, and automobiles — and, as the 22-year-old suggests, her personal SUV and helicopter, naturally.
While it wasn't clear where she was headed, her look certainly was in a cornflower blue James Street cardigan-style short-sleeve button-down, Brandy Melville track pants, and Repetto ballet flats.
Gerber took a page out of ex-boyfriend Jacob Elordi's book by balancing a cold drink, an iPhone, and a designer carryall. The recent Bottega Veneta ambassador typically dabbles with the Italian house, but for this outing she flaunted her contractual arrangements by carrying a large Celine Triomphe canvas and calfskin travel bag and a black top-handle bucket bag. It's anyone's guess where Gerber will show up, but as we pack our suitcases for a European summer getaway, Gerber maintains that what you wear when you travel is just as important as what you wear when you actually go on vacation.
