Amtrak AutoTrain tickets are on sale for just $75, making it easy to travel up and down the East Coast without having to deal with traffic jams.
The sale, which can be booked through July 31, is available for travel between now and Sept. 2, Amtrak said. Travel + LeisureAdditionally, children aged 2-12 travel free when accompanied by an adult on the same reservation.
Tickets for the sale are available in both coach and first-class staterooms and start at just $75 including vehicle cost. The sale is valid for round-trip travel between Lorton, Virginia and Sanford, Florida.
Purchase must be made at least three days in advance and promo code “C521” must be used to make the reservation.
The AutoTrain runs nonstop between Virginia and Florida, with the entire trip taking approximately 17.5 hours.
In addition to purchasing a ticket, travelers must pay an additional fee for vehicles such as cars, vans, and motorbikes. The fee for vehicles varies depending on the type. Travelers can also purchase priority vehicle unloading with their ticket.
Passengers will enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast on board before arriving at the coach, and guests staying in private rooms or bedrooms will enjoy complimentary meals, priority boarding and a dedicated First Class attendant. Each private bedroom has an in-room sink, toilet and shower.
Last year, Amtrak changed its fare structure, introducing two new fare options, “Value” and “Flex,” and eliminating the previous “Saver,” “Value,” and “Flexible” fare options. Both of these new fare options are available on the Auto Train.
In addition to the AutoTrain, Amtrak plans to expand service between St. Paul, Minnesota, and Chicago this summer and revive and expand the Berkshire Flyer, a popular seasonal train that connects New York City with the Berkshires.
