One of the big topics is Furiosa: The Mad Max Saga George Miller and co-writers Mad Max: Fury RoadIn the form of backstories and character biographies. Furiosa Written previously Fury Road It hasn't even been filmed. This is, of course, very impressive. What's even more impressive is that this is true and there is quantifiable evidence. In 2015, Avalanche Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Mad Max At first glance, the connection seems weak Fury RoadHowever, many of these materials are actually Furiosa Bible.
game Mad Max Apparently, Fury RoadThe game begins with Max (the player) being attacked by the War Boys and having his Interceptor stolen. Max must fight the all-powerful warlord who controls Gastown, who survives despite Max having a chainsaw stuck in his head. Max must then build a new car with the help of a black finger (master mechanic) named Chumbucket.
I've played the game four times, most recently in the game that was shown a few weeks ago. FuriosaI knew the game's story came from Miller's notes, but I didn't expect the game to feature so many characters and events. FuriosaViewed in isolation, the game feels unrelated beyond its name and a few basic concepts. Furiosasomething like Mad Max This game is Fury Road From Max's perspective, after all.
Gastown
First off: Gastown is the game's final destination. As you and Chumbucket scavenge for scrap in the dunes and wastelands, you discover that you eventually need to reach Gastown to retrieve the Interceptor. Chumbucket calls Max a “saint” and the car you built “Magnum Ops,” but to Max it's just a car for now.
Gastown is Fury Roadbut it FuriosaDoctor Dementus (Chris Hemsworth) and a biker gang besiege and occupy Gastown, killing the brother of Immortan Joe, the refinery's former owner, in the process. Furiosa It bears a strong resemblance to the in-game location, including the refinery gates and the winding roads surrounding it.
scrotum
The main villain of Mad Max The leader of the gang is Scabrous Scrotus, who is revealed in the game to be one of Immortan Joe's sons. Mad Max: Fury Road Since only Rictus Erectus and Corpus Colossus are featured, one might assume that Scrotus was a made-up character for the game. But no! FuriosaCorpus Colossus does not appear in the film, but Scrotus appears alongside Rictus, played by Josh Helman, who also played Warboy Slit in the film Warboy Slit. Fury Road.
The movie version of Scrotus is quite different from the game version in both appearance and attitude. In the movie, Scrotus is portrayed as a bit smarter and cunning than his stocky and dim-witted brother Rictus. The game version of Scrotus is basically a Rictus clone. The other sub-boss, Stank Gum, seems to look a bit like the movie version of Scrotus. That was nearly 10 years ago, so maybe the original idea for Scrotus was more like Rictus. Things change.
In fact, Scrotus only appears in the game's opening scene and final boss fight, but his name and influence is seen throughout: all of the War Boys and War Rigs that Max destroys in the game belong to Scrotus. FuriosaScrotus got his chance to rule Gastown. Fury RoadIt is run by Joe's apprentice, People Eater. Scrotus dies at the end of the game, Fury Road.
Chum Bucket
Chumbucket is the player's companion character in the game. He talks a lot (a lot), repairs cars on the fly, and fires harpoons during car combat. Chumbucket counters Max's more calm attitude in the game nicely and has a rather sad storyline. From his lines, we learn that he was once Blackfinger in Gastown but left after “seeing the light” of Angel Burning.
in FuriosaNear the end of the game, Furiosa makes a prosthetic arm and says she wants a vehicle to chase Dementus. She asks if anyone has a car, but the non-War Party people in the Citadel aren't supposed to have cars. Suddenly, a small man says he's making one and shows off a beat-up little buggy.
I wasn't sure, but I had a feeling it was going to be interesting. I checked the end credits and sure enough, there was an actor credited as “Chumbucket” and it was that exact character. The only word that comes to mind is thrilling.
Dr. Dementus
Once again, spoiler alert. FuriosaHowever, dementia is Fury RoadHe's not Max's nemesis, but Furiosa's, so I assumed I wouldn't find Dementus anywhere else, but there are references to him in the game, and I only noticed him during a post-show playthrough.
Throughout the game, you will receive small quests from various NPCs that will take you out into the wilderness. These quests include things like finding vehicles, supplies, and more. One such quest is given to Max by Hope, the closest thing to a heroine in the game, and takes Max to the southernmost part of the map. Hope tells Max that he will find a car designed to honor one of the biker lords of old. Hope mentions the name “Dr. D.” Upon finding the car, it will be a motorcycle with a skeleton on the roof. The name of the car is “Demented Chariot.”
This was the coolest Easter egg ever for me. It's a small, inconsequential part of the game's story, but it does make use of Miller's Space Bible lore. In the movie, Dementus literally rides a tank made out of motorbikes. And yes, that's the exact car Dementus drives near the end of the movie. FuriosaIt was an amazing feeling to find this car in a video game 9 years before the movie was made.
Mad Max It's not the best video game in the world, but it's a game I play over and over again, and now I know it's part of a really big story that I encourage others to check it out, or even just play it again.
