From June 1 to August 31, five Red Line stations will be closed for Purple Line construction and maintenance, and the Montgomery County Department of Transportation will provide alternate routes for passengers.
The temporary closures include Glenmont, Wheaton, Forest Glen, Silver Spring and Tacoma stations.
The main alternatives to closures include free shuttle bus services, subway bus routes, and temporary dedicated bus lanes.
Seven miles of pop-up dedicated bus lanes will reduce traffic and travel time for shuttle bus services. The lanes include segments along Georgia Avenue, Beyers Mill Road, Colesville Road and East-West Highway.
Tacoma Station will reopen on June 29th, ahead of the other four stations.

“I think the really important That's because there are thousands of people on that train, and when there are no more trains to ride, they have to go back to their cars.” County Executive Mark Elrich said at a news conference Tuesday. “We all know the Georgia Avenue experience. If we had to add more cars on Georgia Avenue, people would have thought it would be a serious problem.”
