As groundbreaking mysteries, (at the time) controversial survival horror, and retro classics are celebrated, the newest inductees to the Strong Museum's Video Game Hall of Fame have been revealed. Asteroids, Myst, SimCity, Ultima and Resident Evil have been recognized for their cultural influence and are featured in the museum alongside other groundbreaking games such as Barbie: The Fashion Designer, The Last of Us and Wii Sports.
Candidates who missed this year's induction into the Hall of Fame included some iconic games like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Metroid.
For the winners, Strong Museum made a strong case for why they were chosen over other nominees. Asteroids' unique combination of challenging gameplay and audiovisual design earned it a place in the Hall of Fame, while Myst's immersive design and use of new technology helped cement its place in the history books.
