I can't believe I haven't asked you yet, but I have a question. What is AI used for? Do you use Copilot to compose all your emails? Do you use ChatGPT to cook? Do you want to explore every thought in an app you've never heard of? You're not getting anything from AI. I want to know what apps and platforms you use and how you use them — I'm obsessed with understanding what AI actually is forI would like to hear your opinions.
Well, I have a lot to go to this week, but I need to get on a plane. (If you're in Chicago, Come hear about AIcome say hello!) Let's go.

drop
- fall out. beginning the last of usafter that Super mario bros., this time! Suddenly we're spoiled for choice between great video game adaptations. Is it apocalyptic, epic, and obviously pretty funny? Reviews are great. I'm going to watch this on the plane to Chicago this weekend. can't wait.
- DJI Avatar 2. There are two types of drones: camera drones and flying drones. This is a flyer. It's a first-person experience through goggles that last longer and have better movement than the previous game. He must try one of these.
- Find your device on Android. It took Google a while to get this right, but device tracking is a great feature and it looks like Google will be much more open to the network than Apple's Find My. You can also use your Nest device wisely to tell you where you've left your keys in your home.
- Antisocial networks: From memes to mayhem. Most of these heavy-handed Netflix docs about how bad the internet is. great hack, social dilemma, things like that are simple and frustrating to watch. This 4chan document has a few of the same issues, but it's smart and deep enough to teach you a few things about the web.
- Frame.io version 4. This is a huge upgrade for videos, especially if you do anything with other people. This week, his Frame.io brings major improvements to search, more organization tools, and custom metadata to help you keep track of things better. And everything has become much more convenient on mobile.
- Clara color in the workshop. Color e-book reader! Although I'm stuck in the Amazon ecosystem at this point, I really like that Kobo exists as a check and competitor to the Kindle. This is E Ink's latest and greatest product, and at $150 the faster, more capable Clara seems like a bargain.
- “This invention made Disney millions, but then they lost it!” Sodium Vapor Process is both an incredibly cool story about the history of filmmaking and a fancy-sounding name for a pop-punk band. A fun video about a fun invention and why an inferior product ultimately won out.
- fairphone fairbud. Repairable earphones are a huge benefit. Because not only are you considerate of the environment, waste, etc., but you can also replace the battery when it dies. This is a big win for me as I keep replacing AirPods because he only lasts an hour after using them for a while. It also looks very nice.
- strut. this is Really It's a great looking app for people who write a lot. It's part blank page, part organizer, and also includes a number of AI writing tools. If you want AI, you'll pay for it, and luckily I don't. Free writing app for victory!
- civil war. Do you want to see this movie because it's so plausible, or I never have I would like to see this movie because it seems very likely. But no matter how you look at it, things are pretty grim in this dystopian near-future America, but we'll see if it really works out.
screen sharing
i knew Eric Migikowski Because he was making smartwatches long before anyone made smartwatches cool. After years of running Pebble and working as a VC, he spent the last few years building his cross-platform messaging app. buzzer sound. It's a great app that has had a nasty battle with Apple and was recently acquired by Automattic, which owns WordPress.com, Tumblr, and more. Eric is currently responsible for Automattic's large-scale messaging plans. And the plan is very large.
I asked Eric to share his home screen with two things. That's because he's a die-hard Android fan and uses the messaging app a lot. I mean, he created a messaging app that matches all messaging apps, and what do you expect? Eric is also Canadian so… I don't know exactly. But he wanted to know.
Below is Eric's home screen and information about which apps he uses and why.
phone: Samsung Z Flip 5 — the smallest Android smartphone on the market today!
wallpaper: I don't understand. Probably the default one?
App: Maps, Photos, YouTube Music, Phone, Camera, Superhuman, Beep, Chrome.
One of the things I love most about Android is how few taps it takes to accomplish a task. I like having the calendar and Google search on the home screen. For the same reason, we added a search button to the Beeper Android widget. One click + enter name = send a message to anyone.
I still have all my chat apps installed because I need to monitor them all.
I also asked Eric to share some of the things he's currently into. Here's what he shared:
- I don't have a lot of free time because I have two children under the age of 4, but I enjoy it. 3 Physical problems Netflix and Mr. and Mrs. Smith!
- i am listening kitchen confidential I just finished reading it by Anthony Bourdain. There is no antimemetics department. by qntm — my new favorite author! I highly recommend their short stories.Lena” I once again thought about my desire to upload my own brain someday.
- the best new app is Chat GPT — I use audio versions to create short stories and include my children in them.

It makes it much easier for you, the human, to find the right truck if you can't find it. Very useful for switching music streaming services, and still useful for sending and receiving links with friends on Spotify. ” – Daniel

A few weeks ago, I complained here about my broken keyboard and my complicated relationship with a clicking mechanical keyboard. Thanks to everyone who contributed ideas! Some people said, “If you buy this switch and this keyboard and customize it, it will only cost you $95,000.” Thanks everyone, you're my favorite. But the main recommendations I got were: logitech mx key, I ended up buying it.I Love So far. I'm certainly no expert, but it feels great and easy to type on, with a clicky feel without being noisy, and about 6 trillion shortcut keys and customization options. The backlighting is a little finicky and uneven, but it trades off the hardware mic-mute key to make every meeting 10 percent more manageable.
Thank you to everyone who recommended things! Someday I'm going to use a full mechanical keyboard, and I promise to update you on all the stupid decisions I've made.
