Has this year been a season of progress, stagnation, or apathy?
It's strange. For a team relegated from the Premier League, you'd think this season would be considered a failure, but that's not the case. Despite returning to the Championship, the Hatters are in a much better position than they were 12 months ago. They have millions in the bank which will go towards paying for a new stadium, a much better team than they were when they won the play-off final, and the players they sell in the summer are worth much more now that they've proven themselves in the Premier League.
As a result, Luton will be one of the favorites to win the Championship next season. What a wonderful statement! The club was reborn after nearly going bankrupt 16 years before him. A pragmatic approach to league play has been successful.
What has been the club's biggest success this season?
The unwavering support of the fans. They saw the team lose 24 times but realised how difficult the level is and how hard it is to stay in the top tier. They stuck behind the team until the end. The players did their part. They tried their best, played long periods in most games but fell short. The supporters recognised that too and cheered them off the pitch every game. Respect.
What is your biggest disappointment or frustration?
Big blunder of point deduction. It's awful that Luton was involved from start to finish and the deductions/appeals/additions/interpretations/timelines aren't clear. It wasn't a big deal in the end, but it's embarrassing that so many things happened throughout the season in the world's top league.
What are the main items on the summer agenda?
Please get hold of the manager. Rob Edwards was a pivotal figure throughout the tumultuous campaign. He handled Tom Lockyer's situation admirably for a young and relatively inexperienced manager, trying to keep his team at a disadvantage.
I think he will stay as he has come to love the 'experience' of Luton, but players like Ross Barkley will definitely leave. The key is for Luton to get the big money and invest it wisely. Kenilworth Road's recruitment team has achieved excellent results over the past decade and will need another summer to fill its top talent pool. That includes Barkley, who oozes top-notch talent and is a lot of fun to watch.
