Swedish coffee chain Espresso House has appointed former McDonald's Sweden finance chief Daniel Sandström as its new chief financial officer.
Mr. Sundström joined McDonald's Sweden in 1996 and served as Financial Officer from 2013 to 2017 and Acting Chief Financial Officer in 2015. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer at Food Folk Sverige AB, McDonald's Sweden's franchisee.
Mr. Sandström will succeed Mr. Anders Ljungdahl, who will retire in December 2023 and join the student exchange company Educatius Group.
With over 500 stores across Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Germany, Espresso House is the largest branded coffee chain in Scandinavia and the 12th largest in Europe.
As part of expanding its market share in Germany, Espresso House has entered into a licensing agreement with MF KAESO GmbH to expand into North Rhine-Westphalia in March 2023, as well as partnering with Autogrill Deutschland to expand its presence at airports across the country. and expanded its presence at railway stations. The coffee chain currently operates 45 stores across Germany and is looking for further franchise partners to lead the growth of its European stores.
