A lot of people I am having a serious issue with Steam games not loading. This has been going on for quite a while, years in fact. We've had this problem before and it's happening again.
It looks awful. This is the #1 gaming site in the world. It doesn't compare to hard copy versions of games from 30 years ago. It doesn't inspire buyer confidence.
It's awful. Sorry to say this, but I needed to let off some steam.
The situation is as follows:
It seems like many games on Steam are experiencing the exact same issue.
There are several “fixes” available online, all of which are similar and very time consuming.
Steam Support tried their hardest to help me by providing me with a fix for the same (and I should be grateful for that help).
They didn't work.
To simplify many of the issues involved, we will do the following:
Saving and loading is fundamental to all digital technology.
There is no good or even rational reason for them to fail.
The story is “load game, play game, save game, open game later”. Nothing else is needed.
I've seen this kind of malfunction before in an agency's database, where data was stored in the wrong place, new data was erased, etc. The system cost millions of dollars and never worked properly.
…But it didn’t last for years. It was a system error in the save and load process.
You can spend hours or even days on a game only to lose it because it won't load. From this comes some inevitable points.
I wasn't going to pay to end up spending hours doing pointless forensic level research on my system only to end up with the game still not loading.
Also, I don't see why I should have to fix something that is obviously based on a problem on someone else's system.
I don't know how old the Steam system is, but it shows the classic signs of poor data processing. Imperial Era It seems to be pretty fine on Steam.
Given how quirky games are these days, it's entirely possible that some people consider game testing a waste of time, providing additional joy for users.
That being said, it's highly unlikely that anyone would be so indifferent to high-value games: they run fine and don't have any issues saving or loading.
This is a problem. It's a terrible user experience to begin with. If the same issue is occurring across so many different games, it's more likely a systems issue than anything else. This isn't outright outrageous, but it's close.
Buy yet another game that won't run or load? No thanks. My advice to Steam is to fix this mess before it becomes fatal to their brand image.
