Alexis “Lexi” Russell, a program analyst with Joint Arms Command, is the only member of her family to work for the government.
Russell began his career at Army Sustainment Command, where he served for three years before joining the Civilian Personnel Administration, where his mother and brother worked.
Last July, after three years with CHRA, Russell said goodbye to his family at work and joined Team JMC.
“I was looking for a change,” Russell said. “I used to work in recruitment at CHRA, but I wanted to do something else in HR. They had a vacancy in the policy team at JMC, so I decided to stay here. Masu.”
Russell currently works in the Strategic Planning and Initiatives department.
“I primarily work on automation development, making sure we are updating and creating new tools that are effective across our headquarters and enterprise,” Russell says. “This was completely new to me, but it was a really great initiative.
“I love being able to come here and learn something new every day,” Russell added. “I feel like everyone who works in human resources likes helping people and learning new things.”
Russell was recently named JMC Headquarters Employee of the Quarter for Q1 FY24.
“Lexie embraces power platforms and personal development in data and analytics, which has led to the development of multiple tools to help JMC build high-performing digital teams with agile and adaptive data analytics and automation tools. It helps us develop,” said Jennifer Memmert of the Supervising Program. JMC specialist. “She is a versatile individual with the skills to help JMC become a data-centric organization.”
Russell is simply following advice given to his fellow new civilian employees.
“Take advantage of every opportunity you get. There's a lot of them around here,” Russell said. “Always work on your own professional development and personal development, because you never know where you’ll end up.”
When he's not working hard in the Army, Russell might be playing with family and friends, tending to his houseplants, or attending live concerts.
But she might also be thinking about what kind of tattoo she'll get next or what color stripes she'll get in her hair.
“I’m all about expressing myself,” Russell said. “It’s really great to have an office environment that allows that.”
