SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – Summer travel season is just a matter of time, and hundreds of people flocked to MGM Springfield early Sunday morning to get a taste of adventure.
“I'm planning a vacation. I'm nearing retirement age and would like to travel,” Rosann Bergdoll said.
Don't we all need a pause from the pressures of life? The Dream Destination Travel Show at MGM Springfield can help you start your search for a summer soiree.
MassLive hosted the event and our tourism director told us what you need to know before you go.
“We all know that you need to book your trip in advance, so you have the opportunity to talk to a representative about where you want to go,” Steve Fox explained.
From New York to New Mexico to Boston to the Bahamas, this show had something for everyone.
Don't want to spend the night? They do day trips. If you don't like staying on land, why not head out into the water?
Bill Walsh, president of Cruise Travel Outlet, added: “We're seeing pent-up demand due to the coronavirus.” “So we've been really, really busy. In the last three years, our business has tripled in the cruise business. And the cruise business is booming right now. Just today, we're seeing so many people going straight to cruise lines. There were a lot of them, and it's always cheaper than going directly to the cruise line because you buy in bulk.
Maybe it's not worth getting hooked on water. There are many places nearby that you might want to check out.
“We were able to see things that were more local, more local, that we hadn’t really thought about,” Kimberly Brodeur Grindle said. “We were like, 'Oh, we never thought of that.' We live in Massachusetts, but we never thought of going to central Massachusetts and doing something fun. There wasn't.”
Seeing everything on a map may seem stressful, but one visitor said seeing these sights put him in a travel trance.
“It's exciting to travel and you know what's out there, but to have it all in one place and walk around and talk to people and ask specific questions is… It really helps me plan in my head about where I want to go,” Rosann Bergdoll said.
