Oil prices fall as OPEC+ meets
Following a highly anticipated meeting of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC+), in which the group agreed to a plan to extend supply cuts through 2025 and then gradually reduce them thereafter, July West Intermediate (WTI) crude oil fell $2.77, or 3.6%, to $74.22 per barrel on the day.
Gold futures rose in Monday trading as confirmation of an impending rate cut pushed the US dollar and Treasury yields lower. The June contract rose about 1% to close at $2,368.60.
