D'Amico International Shipping (DIS), the Italian product tanker owner and operator, has appointed Antonio Carlos Balestra di Mottola as its new chief executive officer.
Balestra di Mottola, who has been the company's chief financial officer since May 2016, will take over the top job from Paolo D'Amico and continue as chairman. In 2003 he joined d'Amico Group and held roles including business development manager and financial controller.
Balestra di Mottola has also been appointed chief risk officer. His CFO role will be filled by Federico Rosen, who joined D'Amico in 2003 and stepped up from the role of Group Head of Planning and Control.
Commenting on the new appointments, DIS Chairman D'Amico, who has retired from the CEO position for more than five years, said, “The appointment of Carlos as CEO of DIS and Federico as CFO confirms the company's stance. It's a great opportunity.” Thanks to his unique management, he is committed to achieving the most effective succession planning for the top roles of the organization. ”
“For Carlos and Federico, this opportunity is both the culmination of a great journey to date and the beginning of a new and demanding professional challenge, and we are confident that they will succeed.”
Milan-listed DIS currently has a fleet of 34 double-hulled product tankers. The company recently ordered a 75,000 dwt LR1 from Jiangsu Xinyangzi Shipyard for delivery in 2027.
