The state recently announced it had identified an “advanced cybersecurity incident” related to its network.
Premier David Eby said in a statement Wednesday that the British Columbia government is working to determine the scope of the incident.
“The government is working closely with the Canadian Cyber Security Center (CyberCentre) and other agencies to determine the scale of the incident and take additional steps to protect data and information systems,” he said. Ta.
He said the Information and Privacy Commission had also been informed.
Eby said there is currently no evidence whether confidential information was compromised, but an investigation is underway to determine what was compromised.
The Prime Minister has said keeping data and networks safe is a priority for the government.
“I want to assure British Columbians that protecting their data and networks is a top priority for our government. Cybersecurity threats are a constant reality of the modern world and continue to grow in severity.” he said.
“We know the public has many questions about these cases, and we intend to be as transparent as possible without compromising our investigation.”
He assures the public that British Columbians will be provided with up-to-date information regarding the investigation.
