HENDERSON — Turnkey MSP held a ribbon cutting to celebrate new membership Thursday at the Henderson-Vance Chamber of Commerce.
That is a “managed service provider”. For Turnkey, we act as the client's information technology department. Patrick Newcombe and David Cole are the owners.
That menu, so to speak, includes IT services, corporate cyber security, computer repair and diagnostics, telephone system design, corporate network design and security, cabling, and enterprise audiovisual integration.
Newcomb may sound familiar. He has owned Newcomb Tech, another IT servicer and computer repair shop located on Sutter White Point Road since 2008. It's a similar business, but with a different structure. Turnkey is his LLC, while Newcomb is a sole proprietor.
Turnkey will relocate to offices on Montgomery Street near the Brass Shop.
Internet fraud is currently on the rise and is a more lucrative illegal industry than drugs, with billions of dollars in profits, Newcombe explained. An email might tell you that your iCloud storage will be upgraded by clicking on an unassuming link. Another blatantly asks for credit card information.
Newcombe himself drew some sympathy, recalling an incident in which someone lost $500,000 to a scammer online.
Newcomb and Cole cut the ribbon in March in front of the Granville County Chamber of Commerce offices.
