Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA), Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation, issued the following statement regarding the Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD) in 2024. report About the U.S. cybersecurity posture:
“We welcome the news that the Office of the National Cyber Director has completed or is in the process of completing all 36 initiatives set forth in the First National Cybersecurity Strategic Implementation Plan (NCSIP). It further demonstrates the Administration's commitment to cybersecurity resiliency and continued evolution and iteration in cybersecurity planning and operations.
For the past 10 years, I have been dedicated to FITARA and federal IT oversight. This includes ensuring that governments do not stagnate their cybersecurity capabilities. Therefore, the Subcommittee worked with the Biden Administration to develop specific metrics to measure agency adoption of key cybersecurity measures. These metrics, publicly scored and reported through Performance.gov, are incorporated into his FITARA scorecard as part of FISMA/Cyber Metrics. Together, we encourage government agencies to remain adaptable and adopt best practices in secure cloud computing and zero trust deployments.
We all appreciate the government's continued commitment to ensuring the security of all federal systems so that they can most effectively serve the American people. ”
