City of Raleigh Information Technology Department Envisioning future projects in Raleigh using microclimate modeling and digital twins We recently received the Smart Cities of North America award (SCNAA) from IDC Government Insights. Raleigh won the award for the Urban Planning and Land User Division's project “Envisioning Raleigh's Future Using Microclimate Modeling and Digital Twins.”
The America's Smart Cities Awards aim to recognize the progress North American states and local governments are making in implementing smart city projects. Raleigh's IT department partnered with the Office of Sustainability, Planning, and Strategic Innovation and external partner MITER on this project. By applying microclimate data to his 3D digital twin, the team was able to explore innovative technologies that address the growing complexity of urban life and climate change. This innovative solution can lead to more intelligent and resilient urban development.
