Carson City's financials linked through the Nevada Open Finance Portal.
Nevada State Comptroller Andy Matthews said the Nevada Open Finance Portal has been updated to include a link to a Carson City-maintained website that lists the city's financial information.
The Nevada Open Finance Portal (https://checkbook.nv.gov) launched in February and includes data on the state’s checkbook, budget, payroll, pension payments and more.
“The site currently includes a drop-down menu called 'County,' with the goal of eventually including links to financial data for all 17 counties, as well as city governments, school districts and more. Carson City, which launched its 'Carson City Financial Overview' website in August 2022, is the first local government to be added to the state's website,” the state Comptroller's Office said in a news release.
“As the Comptroller's Office continues to promote government transparency through the Nevada Open Finance Portal, we are pleased to announce the addition of Carson City as a first step in including local government data on the website,” Matthews said. “We also thank and applaud Carson City's leaders for making this information available to the public and for their commitment to transparent and accountable government.”
Matthews also announced a new initiative called “Transparency Tuesdays,” in which the Comptroller's Office will use its social media accounts to spotlight progress on efforts to increase government transparency across the state. Users can follow the Comptroller's Office on Facebook and on Twitter at @SCONevada.
