CAA Softball Weekly Awards – March 12th
Richmond, VA (March 5, 2024) – CAA announced the Softball Weekly Awards for the week of March 4th through March 10th. UNCW graduate outfielder Skylar Stockton won the CAA Player of the Week Award, and Campbell redshirt junior pitcher Isabella Smith won the CAA Pitcher of the Week Award. Additionally, Delaware freshman infielder Gianna Costaro was named CAA Rookie of the Week.

Stockton batted .462 (6-13), had an on-base percentage of .500, scored four runs, and scored three points in his 3-1 week at UNCW, including the CAA Series sweep. The graduate outfielder hit safely in all four games, extending his hit streak to six. Stockton finished the weekend with a multi-hit streak in Game 2 against Hampton, going 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run, a double, two RBIs, two runs scored, and two stolen bases. In her final game of the series, she stepped up to the plate and went 2-for-4 with hits, an RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base.

Isabella Smith, Campbell

Smith made the save in the circle to make it 2-0, leading Campbell to a sweep of Stony Brook in its first CAA series. The redshirt junior appeared in all three games of the series, pitching 16.2 innings with a 0.42 ERA and 22 strikeouts. In Game 1, Smith pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out a season-high 11 batters and recording double-digit strikeouts for the third time this spring. In Game 2, he held the Seawolves hitless over 2.2 innings, scoring 7 Ks with 8 outs and saves. Smith had three hits, one earned run, and four strikeouts in the final game of the series, ending the weekend with his second complete game of the series.
Rookie of the week
Gianna Costaro, Delaware
Freshman | Infield | Bellmore, New York / John F. Kennedy
Costaro hit .500 (4-8) with a .600 on-base percentage, had three runs scored and one RBI, helping Delaware State win the series over Charleston. The freshman hit safely in all three games, including going 2-for-2 with a walk and an RBI, which he scored in the final game of the series. It was his third multi-hit game this season. Additionally, she went 1-for-3 and scored two runs in Delaware State's series-opening victory.
