The Atlanta Braves placed All-Star second baseman Ozzie Albies on injured reserve Tuesday because of a fractured right toe.
Albies was injured in Monday's game against the Houston Astros. Astros starting pitcher Spencer Arrigetti threw an inside curveball that hit Albies' right foot and sent him to the ground.

He scored a run on a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded, giving the Braves a 2-1 lead and a 6-1 victory. Albies remained in the game, but was diagnosed with a fractured toe and was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday. Albies told reporters Tuesday that he didn't realize his toe was broken as he continued to play. Rather, he thought he had suffered deep bone bruises.
“It's a terrible injury, but there's nothing we can do.” Albies said. “I just hope you get well soon and can leave as soon as you feel better.”
Albies said an X-ray showed a “crack” on his toe. Neither the Braves nor Albies would say when he plans to return.
