Everyone should be able to afford to take a vacation.
This idea led Albert Boscow and Edwin Lakin, along with Eunice Boscow and Alma Lakin, to open the first travel branch in Exeter Township's Boscov East Department Store in 1974.
“In the early days of Boscov's Travel, the company's founders wanted to create a different way of thinking about leisure travel,” said Pat Cinfisi, president of Boscov's Travel. “They have made travel opportunities available to everyone at an affordable price.”
Now, 50 years later, the company is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Cinfici attributes Boscov's Travel's success to the same principles of community service and honest pricing that have kept the parent company thriving for decades.
According to Cinfici, staying true to these values gives Boscov's Travel an edge, even in the age of online booking.
“Our business is about relationships. From the pandemic to 9/11, we've been through life with our customers and we're here with them,” Cinfici said. “For us, our customers are more than just customers, they are family.”
Mr. Simfici has been an employee of Boscov's Travel since its inception, initially working as a leisure agent and then holding various positions before finally becoming president in 2006.
The company has grown from a small operation to a full-service travel management company with 17 offices in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Ohio, company officials said.
The company offers a full range of travel management services, from vacations, cruises, honeymoons and destination weddings to business and group travel.
Cinfici said the company continues to develop, recently securing new accounts in various states where Boscov's Travel has never entered the market.
Although the business has expanded, Boscov's Travel remains true to its founding ethics, Simfici said.
“Whether a customer wants to experience a VIP vacation or is planning their first trip to Walt Disney World, our business model remains the same,” Cinfici said.
One way companies put these values into practice is by offering complementary planning services along with complete vacation packages, Cinfici said.
“Customers entrust us with thousands of dollars to help them realize their dreams, and we take that very seriously, from the start of planning to the moment they get home from vacation,” said Cinfici. Told.
Another customer-focused service is our 24/7 emergency line for customers who need assistance with unforeseen circumstances during their travels.
In honor of the customers who made the company's 50th anniversary possible, Boscov's Travel is planning several special promotions, according to Simfici.
“From our anniversary on April 24, 2024, through May 4, 2024, we will be running a $300 discount promotion on your next cruise or tour vacation,” Cinfici said. “We’re also celebrating the anniversary with President’s Choice-curated 2024 trips, travel giveaways and exclusive travel partner promotions for our clients to book.”
Cinfici said customers should keep an eye out for new promotions as the commemoration will be held year-round.
Jim Boscov, president of Boscov's and great-nephew of department store founder Solomon Boscov, said he is excited to celebrate Boscov's Travel's 50th anniversary.
“We reflect the values of our company and family by providing excellent value and customer service in a highly specialized field,” said Jim Boscov. “Their attention to detail is especially important given the urgency of business travel and the precious nature of vacation time for leisure travelers.”
“We are extremely proud of our knowledgeable and experienced staff who are dedicated to making every trip a success.”
