GovCIO, a government contractor for technology companies with more than $1 billion in government contracts, is the first Charleston office and high-tech research strategically located less than a mile from Joint Base Charleston and the U.S. Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic Ocean. The place was officially opened.
A ribbon cutting and reception was held recently at 1217 Remount Road in North Charleston with members of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, AFCEA Low County Chapter and other interested parties in attendance.
Emily Hall, senior communications and marketing specialist at GovCIO, said the location is convenient for the GovCIO team to host technology demonstrations for government partners and provide a flexible space to collaborate on existing and future projects. He said it would be a great place.
“The main factors driving the location of this office were its proximity to Joint Base NIWC/Charleston and the ability to house both offices and laboratories within the building, providing significant power for advanced technology development projects.” said Hall.

The GovCIO office will support up to 14 employees, and several more will work at the lab station, Hall said. Twelve new employees will relocate to the Charleston area, and GovCIO expects to add several new full-time positions in the North Charleston office as the company continues to grow.
