Baldur's Gate 3, a role-playing hit based in the world of Dungeons and Dragons, beat out its video game rivals on Thursday to win back-to-back top prizes at Britain's annual BAFTA Game Awards. .
Set in a fantasy world filled with wizards, elves, barbarians, and other characters, it's the latest in the acclaimed series from Belgium's Larian Studios, which won Game of the Year.
It also won the EE Players' Choice Award, which was voted for by the public, as well as the BAFTA for Music, Narrative and Performers, bringing the total number of awards won in five categories at the ceremony in central London.
The medieval fantasy game is part of a popular gaming story dating back to the late 1990s and had already won the top prize at the Game Awards 2023 in Los Angeles last December.
It has been a huge commercial success since its release in August last year, selling more than 10 million copies across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, according to figures provided by the studio at the end of February.

Other winners at Game BAFTA, which is in its 20th year this year, include The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Realm, which won the Technical Achievement Award.
The latest installment in the adventures of elf-like warrior Link has been a huge success since its release last year on the Switch, Japanese gaming giant Nintendo's console.
Tears of the Kingdom sold over 10 million copies in just three days, making it the fastest-selling game in Nintendo's history. According to figures provided by Nintendo, it sold a total of more than 20 million copies in 2023.

The Zelda game series, which began in 1986, includes more than a dozen titles, some of which are hailed by critics as some of the best video games of all time, and has sold more than 150 million copies. On sale.
This latest title is a direct sequel to 2017's Breath of the Wild, which was hailed as one of the Switch's best titles.
