According to a new report from Swimlane, only 40% of organizations feel fully prepared to meet cybersecurity regulatory compliance requirements. Despite 93% of organisations reviewing their strategies and 92% increasing their budgets, organisations still feel unprepared for new regulations. In light of groundbreaking developments such as the SEC’s Incident Rule on cybersecurity incident disclosure and the EU’s Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), Swimlane investigated how the changing cybersecurity regulatory environment will impact security budgets and compliance strategies. Most of the time, they're supposed to be working, but they're not because they're playing video games. I try to make gaming my “work” (or at least content) by occasionally streaming my games and posting the streams to my SWO Productions YouTube channel, but I'm much better at playing games than making videos (the minimalist look of my Twitch and YouTube is proof of that). The bottom line is, I love games! And when I heard my friends Paul and Wayne each list their top 10 video games of all time on The Countdown podcast, it seemed like a very…
Brian Montgomery, Specialist Security Engineer, Altera Digital Health As an avid soccer fan, player, and coach, I have heard the phrase “the best defense is a good offense” many times. As a cybersecurity professional, I can relate to the idea of taking proactive steps to improve my team's position. However, cybersecurity programs within and outside of the healthcare industry typically focus on a reactive approach. The risks in the healthcare industry are too great to wait for hackers to attack organizations, while the scale and scope of cyberattacks continues to grow: in 2023, there will be more than 700 healthcare…
This week, the NCAA, ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC voted to allow schools to pay players.Let's think about that for a moment.A day that would have been unimaginable three years ago, much less 30 years ago, has (almost) arrived. Technically, their vote was just the first step toward reaching a $2.67 billion settlement in the landmark House v. NCAA antitrust lawsuit. The judge's approval is still pending; more hearings will be held. And yet, college sports leaders have agreed to something they've vehemently opposed for a century, albeit reluctantly, as a ruling that could bankrupt the entire…
