YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – Local and state real estate leaders will visit Washington, D.C. later this week to protect the private property rights of all homeowners.
The Arizona Association of Realtors will use this time to speak with legislators and consider solutions to several local and state housing issues.
This can have a huge impact on homeowners, buyers, and renters.
“If we don't speak up, we have to be a voice for small communities where no one else will,” said Mike Porter, 2024 president of the Yuma Association of Realtors.
Sherry Ostrovsky, president of the Arizona Association of Realtors, explained how she is traveling through Yuma County and other parts of Arizona to discuss the issue.
“We're actually meeting with legislators and all the precincts in Yuma County, and we're able to talk to them about these issues and why it's so important to us,” Ostrovsky said. he said.
Mr. Ostrovsky also discussed some of these major issues and how they impact Yuma.
“We have low inventory, we have affordable housing issues, and all of these things impact us. ,” Ostrovsky explained.
These meetings and discussions have worked in the past as the association was able to contribute to the nullification and repeal of the state's rental tax.
“We just voted down the rental tax. The governor signed the ball to eliminate the rental tax. So these are important issues for our clients and customers and our business,” Ostrovsky said. said.
The group is currently in Phoenix for preview meetings, but will be in Washington, D.C., this weekend and most of next week.
