Thursday's Letters page is appalled by recent job cuts at Take-Two as readers feel trolled by Hollow Knight: Silksong.

true story
Over the past few months, with increasingly gloomy news stories (Take-Two can do a run-up jump!), I've realized that console gaming is a huge part of the gaming world. I mean it's much smaller than I always thought it would be. To me, it's a game and everything else is just a charmless distraction, but what I and others like me have to accept is that we are in the minority. think.
Mobile games are much more popular than console or PC games, and while I've never seen a game I'd want to play for more than a minute or two, that's probably what most people are looking for, at least when it comes to each session. That's all. Does that mean mobile games aren't real games? I know a lot of people who say they're not, and I don't think that's really fair. Because then you quickly slip into a routine that is not truly Scottish.
And what is the title of the live service? Are they real games? These aren't things I play or really pay attention to, but if you look at the charts you'll see that they're very popular. In fact, you'll find that most of the games people are playing are more than five years old, especially when you add annual sequels like EA Sports FC and Call Of Duty into it.
For most gamers, playing a game is more like going to the theater to see a new movie, rather than something that's constantly being released. They're the same ones they've been playing for years, console games that aren't real games. Because compared to things like Fortnite or Roblox, it's always just a fleeting moment.
We don't know what the future holds for console games or other types of games, but to understand what's going on right now, it's important to understand that for most publishers, we are no longer their most important customer. I think we need to recognize that.

future of business
It's really disgusting to see Take-Two lay off so many people just to set up next year's performance. It's as if GTA 6 isn't going to make them billions of dollars next year. What investor doesn't know that? I was so angry because everything was so unnecessary and cruel.
And which games were cancelled? Arguably, everything is unusual and experimental, so all we get instead is a sequel. I heard they are preparing to release Mafia 4, why? Mafia 1, 2, 3, let alone Mafia 1, 2, 3? Who would have wanted them (and remakes of them too!)?
One day they will instead fire executives or replace them with AI and everything will be run properly by a positive, caring business. Instead, all you get is short-term thinking and a boss who only cares about himself.

always something
It's no wonder developers are nervous about having to work on live service games. Most of the time, I'm sure it wasn't their idea. Especially the pathetic scumbags at Sony who suddenly went from making award-winning system-selling single-player games to live-service games destined to die in six months. The current situation is that it doesn't come out at all).
Every few years we have to endure this nonsense until companies realize that there is no easy way to make money and go back to making regular games again. First online passes, then microtransactions, then NFTs (that didn't last long, thankfully!), and now live services. I'm sure what happens next will be even worse.

shadow over the game
I know there's a lot to be depressed about at the moment – the Take-Two news was really bad – but let me just say that I'm really looking forward to Elden Ring's Shadow Of The Erdtree I think. It's getting closer. I love the original game and am very proud that I completed it almost 100%. I'm sure there are some that I missed, but I've got all the bosses and all the secrets I can find, so check them out later.
It's just a great game, and I'm very encouraged by how much time and effort they're putting into expanding it. It's shaping up to be 50-100 hours of pure From Software bliss, and I can't wait either. (I hope I remember what I said while cursing when I got stuck on the first boss.)

Successful demonstration
Following your article, I played the Stellar Blade demo and I have to say I was very impressed. First of all, the elephant in the room. What is the main character wearing? She looks like some kind of genetically engineered super soldier strutting down the catwalk.
I can't say if it's sexist or not, but it's certainly very stupid and looks like it was made by horny 15-year-old boys. The most surprising thing about this game is that it's good…really good.
Of course, I only played the demo so I don't know what else is going on, but I was very impressed with the combat. Bayonetta is clearly a big influence here, and they use parries, combos, and various little techniques to perfect Platinum Games style combat.
I'm always looking for reviews and would be shocked if this one got a bad reception. Buy it then and be careful not to play it when your girlfriend is in the room.

pro version
I have a question about Call Of Duty and PS5 Pro. Do you think the next Call Of Duty will be enhanced for PS5 Pro? Keep in mind that Sony made a big deal regarding platform parity for Call Of Duty. Therefore, it seems unlikely that Microsoft will actively allow a better version of Call Of Duty for the PS5 Pro.
I expect there will be some discussion no matter how this scenario plays out. Perhaps the PS5 Pro is the best place to play Call Of Duty, which would be ironic in a way given Sony's paranoia over inferior ports.
I will add it. This is a question you should ask yourself. Would Activision support the PS5 Pro if it wasn't owned by Microsoft? Of course it would. I believe the 10-year contract signed by Sony includes a parity clause.
Either way, there are bound to be some dissatisfied fans. It's not a good look that Activision doesn't support the PS5 Pro, and even if they do, it's not a good look. A lose-lose situation. This is going to be a big topic later this year, mark my words.

Final game
Is it just me or is the indie world trolling us with its “and now it's the last game” moments? It was acting like we knew what it was, and now the only indie game like that is Hollow Knight: Silksong, and…yet, as usual it's not there. did.
I guess indie developers don't have a lot of time for marketing, but when you consider that most other publishers don't either these days, suddenly everything becomes a mystery. I wouldn't be surprised if that game came out tomorrow or in two years.

return
Today we see another step forward in Sony's PC adoption. His upcoming PC port of Ghosts Of Tsushima will be the first Sony PC release to integrate his PSN functionality through an in-game menu.
Once signed in, an overlay will give you access to your friends list, full cross-play functionality with PlayStation 4/5 in Ghost Legends co-op mode, and the ability to integrate PSN trophies. Ghost shares the same trophy as his PS5 Director's Cut. version. Epic and Steam also have their own trophy lists.
I almost moved to PC this generation, but Sony exclusives like Demon's Souls and Returnal got me interested in consoles again. I also like his PlayStation trophy system as my preferred achievement system and am a bit attached to my trophy list, so to speak.
However, these features will soon be available on PCs, which I plan to migrate to, albeit with a two-year wait for Sony exclusives. I plan on cleaning out my PlayStation back catalog before buying or building a PC.
Honestly, I'm not sure where this relinquishing of console exclusivity will lead. My general feeling is that it won't have a huge impact on Sony's console sales.
Not many people do what I do because PCs are expensive and have the disadvantage of not being as plug-and-play as consoles. Single-player games also have lag. I don't think Sony plans to release everything on PC from day one like Microsoft does, and I don't think they need to.
However, there is no doubt that times are changing.

These counters, or counters as they are called in the Rayman board game, are amazing. You can almost get it with just those. I really miss that series and wish they would make another proper 2D platformer, but I'm not holding my hopes up.

Sure, they'll get paid, but I don't want to be the developer who has to follow up Baldur's Gate 4. The name alone would sell, but in terms of reputation, I feel they should be left alone without doing anything. Larian.
