All Super Mario Maker uploads to the community have been officially broken prior to the end of the game's online functionality.
Super Mario Maker, along with all other Wii U and 3DS games, will go offline on April 8, 2024. Prior to this, a group of players was formed to clear the few remaining unbeatable levels in the game.
To upload a level to Super Mario Maker, the creator must prove its legitimacy by completing the level themselves.
Although the majority of the game's levels had been completed by multiple players before its closure, the final level, “Herb Trimming”, had been puzzling players for weeks.
After several weeks of effort, the author of the level has come forward and confirmed that the level was created using TAS software. TAS software emulates every level of perfect input.
This means you could theoretically win Trimming The Herbs, but it would reportedly require a perfect jump of around 20 frames.
Since this level has not been legally completed by the creator, Trimming The Herbs is considered an illegal upload and the community goal of completing all levels has been achieved.
Wii U and 3DS online services will end on April 8th at 4pm Pacific Time, 7pm Eastern Time, and April 9th at 12am Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
Nintendo already closed the eShop for both systems in March 2023, but players still had access to in-game online services such as online multiplayer and leaderboards.
Players will still be able to play games offline after the online service ends, and Nintendo has stated that Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter will continue to have online functionality (presumably because they are still being used by players). (as it uses an online connection as its central mechanism).
