In line with its ambition to combine growth and sustainable development, Air Liquide has successfully issued a new green bond for €500 million. The Group plans to use the proceeds from this issue to finance or refinance its flagship energy transition and sustainable projects, in particular low-carbon hydrogen, carbon capture and low-carbon air gas. This new issue confirms Air Liquide as a regular ESG issuer, after its first green bond issue in 2021.
The transaction, which was significantly oversubscribed by investors, was executed under the Group's Euro Medium Term Note (EMTN) program. The issue will see Air Liquide raise €500 million over a 10-year maturity period at a yield of 3.466%.
The proceeds from the issue will enable Air Liquide to finance or refinance its flagship energy transition and sustainability projects, supporting the Group's long-term growth in a very competitive financial position.
Jérôme Pelletin, Group Chief Financial Officer, commented: “The success of this second green bond issuance demonstrates investors' confidence in Air Liquide's ability to implement technologies and pioneering projects that contribute to the decarbonization of our activities and help our customers reduce their carbon footprint. This is in line with our ADVANCE strategic plan, which inseparably links financial and non-financial performance. The technologies that Air Liquide is mastering, especially in the areas of low-carbon hydrogen, carbon capture and low-carbon air gas, make a positive and concrete contribution to the transition to a low-carbon society.”
