Meta has made its Quest 2 and 3 virtual reality headsets even more travel-friendly, announcing new travel modes for both devices.
Meta revealed in a blog post that Travel Mode is available as an experimental feature on the Quest 2 and 3 headsets. Users who want to try this feature can go to their headset settings and[実験的機能]You need to go to the section and enable the feature.
As you'd expect from an experimental feature, Meta confirms that Travel Mode is currently “optimized for airplane use,” but it plans to add support for other modes of transportation, such as trains. Apps and video games that require an internet connection, such as Xbox Cloud Gaming and Rec Room, require users to connect to the plane's Wi-Fi. More interestingly, Meta points out that if you use the headset before enabling Travel Mode, the device may automatically detect that you're on a plane. He recommends enabling travel mode before use.
As UploadVR previously noted, users who wanted to use the Meta Quest VR headset onboard the plane had to turn off location tracking.
While this concept may seem silly to some, using travel mode on a VR headset, especially the Meta Quest, isn't that far-fetched a concept. Meta Quest 2 and 3 offer native apps for streaming and video services such as Netflix, Peacock, and YouTube, among others. There's also a growing list of VR games that are released regularly on both devices and don't require a lot of movement. Real VR Fishing and Moss: Book 2 and more.
Travel Mode may sound familiar, as it's a feature that's been available for some time in Vision Pro, Apple's expensive spatial computer, which launched earlier this year. Over the past few months, Meta has been rolling out new features previously included in the Vision Pro to his VR headset. It also includes the Vision Pro-esuqe features that Meta introduced in the Quest line, such as Laying Down Mode.
