This weekend, war broke out in the suburbs.

Fortunately, that's the kind of game it is, and thousands of people filled the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel for Adepticon, a convention for the miniature wargaming hobby and those who love it.
“This is like the best thing ever,” said Luke Kozak, who was in town from Hartland, Michigan, on Sunday. “This is far better than any video game I've ever played.”

The five-day convention featured more than 115 exhibitors and more than 675 events, ranging from board games and role-playing games to hobby seminars, team trivia, and social gatherings.
“Honestly, the hobby provides a great way to connect with other people,” said participant Mary Hart from Marion, Indiana.

Erika Campbell of Naperville and Moe Campbell, 16, a high school senior. On Sunday, we took some time to admire the intricate artwork in the Golden Demon Warhammer exhibit.
“I see this as eye candy,” Erica Campbell said.
