The world of Dragon's Dogma 2 is vast, spread across two huge maps with plenty of ground to cover on foot. Sometimes walking is the only option to get from one place to another, but sometimes you don't have the time to make a long and dangerous journey. There are two ways to fast travel in Dragon's Dogma 2. One method is quick and easy, but you have to prepare it correctly the first time. The other method is dangerous and frankly a waste of time. The guide below will show you how to fast travel in Dragon's Dogma 2.
Dragon's Dogma 2 Fast Travel: Ox Cart
While this method of fast travel in Dragon's Dogma 2 is straightforward and inexpensive, it can also lead to encounters with unwanted creatures along the way. Bullock carts are scattered around the world in large towns and villages, and you can pay a small fee to get to your destination. You don't get to choose where you're taken, and sometimes you'll encounter monsters that get in the way of your journey, but it takes much less time and effort.
Port Crystal and Ferry Stone
Fast traveling using Port Crystals and Ferry Stones is quickest if you've prepared in advance. The developers don't want you to be able to do it easily, but sometimes you don't have time to walk long distances on foot. Port crystals are locations within a city or settlement that you need to activate in order to fast travel later. There is a limit to how many port crystals you can have active at once, so only place port crystals in places you know you'll need to go to later (especially cities with trade opportunities or inns to rest/advance time) Please activate.
The next step to using these Port Crystals is owning Ferry Stones. These gems allow you to travel between two port crystals, but are in short supply early on. Thankfully, there are several ways to obtain them.
- Merchant – In the first major city you arrive in Fermund (where Brandt's questline is located), you can find the Merchant in Filbert's General Store for 10,000 G.
- Treasure Chests – Although fairly rare, it’s always worth checking out treasure chests in case you find a Ferry Stone.
- Seeker Token Rewards – If you find Seeker Tokens on your travels and are wondering if they are worth collecting, the first reward for the cost of one of these tokens is a Ferrystone.
Once you own one of these Ferrystones, you will be able to use it in your inventory. When you press “Use”, the available port crystals will appear on the map, and when you select the location you want to go to, a short cutscene will begin and you will be teleported to the location you want to go to.
