In the ever-competitive landscape of sports betting (and travel), companies are always looking for ways to differentiate themselves. BetMGM and Marriott Bonvoy's respective rewards programs announced a partnership on Monday to help do just that. Bettors are sure to be happy.
The partnership between the two companies creates the largest benefits partnership in the online sports betting and iGaming industry, allowing members in approved states to link their Marriott Bonvoy and BetMGM accounts. BetMGM is currently available in 29 markets across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
“This is definitely a groundbreaking partnership,” said BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt. “This is good for our players and good for Marriott Bonvoy members. Not only does this deal extend our brand to hundreds of millions of potential new customers, but our players will also be able to extend their gameplay to Marriott Bonvoy members. You get the unique benefit of access to unparalleled benefits.”
When BetMGM customers bet on sports or iGaming, they earn BetMGM Rewards points and can transfer those points to their Marriott Bonvoy accounts.
This provides another value proposition for bettors outside of the sportsbook that doesn't give them anything in return other than potential winnings. Similar to credit card reward points, this could signal a shift to sportsbooks competing for bettors' money by pushing rewards, rather than just an upfront sign-up promotion.
