There are many Linux distributions, but only a few can be classified as the best Linux distributions for hacking and penetration testing. Among them, Kali Linux is the most popular and has a cult following (for good reason).
But every once in a while, we see a new Linux distribution trying to challenge the top with what they have to offer.
One such distribution is the recently introduced “Snoop God Linux” rose from the ashes of Blackbuntu, a popular penetration testing distribution at the time.
Oddly enough, when I first learned about this on Reddit, there was only one name that came to mind. It was “Snoop Dogg”.
Perhaps SnoopGod Linux's name comes from the name of a famous rapper, but perhaps not. Nevertheless, let's move on and see what the Linux distribution SnoopGod has to offer.
SnoopGod Linux: Overview ⭐
Built on Ubuntu-based SnoopGod Linux fully focused Penetration testing,Security,Development. At the time of this writing, the latest release was based on Ubuntu 22.04.4 LTS, used KDE Plasma 5.24.7 as the desktop environment (DE), and had Linux kernel 6.5.
Several Key highlights include:
- Intuitive user interface
- Security-focused approach
- Rich selection of tools/libraries
Start with a set of preinstalled tools and libraries that the developer says Consists of over 800 individual packages Covers most use cases for penetration testing with highlights such as Aircrack-ng, BeEF, and Metasploit.
For more information on the tools and libraries included in SnoopGod Linux, please see the list.
The SnoopGod Linux homepage also says “Designed to achieve maximum performance and minimum resource consumption.”.
As for the interface, I mentioned earlier that it is powered by KDE Plasma, and in my opinion it is very clean. May be able to attract Windows users I think I'll check out SnoopGod Linux.
Overall, this package seems to be very solid for a Linux distribution focused on penetration testing, and it's on par with Exodia OS, which I checked last year, and Kali Linux, which is the de facto standard in this field. Comparable.
