It was previously released on Switch and PC. Horizon Chase 2 Now available on PlayStation and Xbox with cross-play, it's not a deep racing game, but it's simple, modern and entertaining at the same time.
The main selling point of this sequel is just how crazy and cool it is. Mario KartNot destructive BurnoutAnd it definitely doesn't have a simulation Forza or Gran TurismoInstead, every aspect is built around speed, which makes you feel awesome on the track all the time. Even if you crash on the side of the road, you only lose momentum for a second. Speed is definitely the main gimmick here. Everything is built around speed.
Like most racing games, the goal is to reach the finish line first, and most tracks only take a few minutes to complete. For a change of pace, there are sometimes different mission objectives, such as completing a time trial in a certain amount of time, but unfortunately these variations can be unbalanced. Coming in first place while collecting a few coins in each match gives the player currency to unlock new cars, car parts, and car upgrades. However, it takes time to unlock a single upgrade, and multiple upgrades are required to make the vehicle strong enough to earn a ranking spot in the time trial missions. It would have been better to leave these strict match requirements as unlockables at the end, since it's impossible to beat the best time with the default car. There's a lot to unlock, and that's cool, but it requires a lot of grinding to get the good stuff, and that's not cool.
Thankfully, despite not having a huge variety of tracks, the game still manages to keep players entertained with a fun sense of speed. Sure, each track looks different, they're all very colorful, and some even have impressive weather effects, but they all have the same twists, turns, and straights. For a game that offers such great speed, it's a shame that it doesn't include jumps, hills, or shortcuts. There aren't many dips or hills, either. And for us American players, it's a bit odd that you drive in kilometers per hour instead of miles per hour, with no option to switch between the two. The soundtrack is also a highlight, F-Zero Sometimes games.
One thing worth mentioning is that it focuses on casual players, which means that even though you're driving super fast, the game will keep your car on the course. As long as you tilt the analog stick in the direction of the turn, the game will keep your car on the course, without you having to slow down, drift, or brake (in most cases). Because the game has this friendly auto-driving feature, all players can compete and play on a level playing field. The only way to really get ahead is by working harder than your opponents and unlocking better equipment. Mario Kart This one features boost turns, so good drivers will need to strategically time their nitro boosts to shave seconds off their time and climb the leaderboards – or know how to avoid the AI racers who are constantly trying to get in their way.
In addition to the standard campaign races against the AI, online matches with cross-play are also available. There are also optional challenge missions that offer slight variations in gameplay. For example, the game may task the player with coming in first place while avoiding all the coins on the course. These challenges rotate over time and are ticked off when completed, rewarding the player with extra cash and a sense of accomplishment.
Horizon Chase 2 is a perfectly fine, fun, and playable racing game, but there's no denying that it lacks variety and depth. While it's fun to hurtle through each track at breakneck speed, the lack of breadth and variety makes this arcade-style racing game best played for two races at a time before repetition and tedium become noticeable. It's not a bad racing game, but it is disappointingly shallow.

The sense of speed is fun, especially when the game automates the drive to keep the player on course during high-speed turns, but the shallow gameplay options limit the overall enjoyment of this arcade racer.
