The iconic Henri Delaunay Trophy may be the biggest prize at this summer's European Championships, but individual players also have the chance to be top scorer and take home the Golden Boot.
Gerd Muller, Marco van Basten, Alan Shearer and Fernando Torres are some of the players who have topped the goal scoring charts for many years.
So who will do that this time?
BBC Sport assessed some of the contenders…
Romelu Lukaku (Belgium)
Romelu Lukaku will be highly rated by many after scoring 14 goals, breaking the record for most goals scored in a single season in European Championship qualifying.
The 31-year-old is Belgium's all-time leading goalscorer with 83 goals in 114 appearances and this summer's Euros will mark his sixth major tournament with the Red Devils.
He played seven games and scored four goals at the 2018 World Cup, winning the bronze medal.
From the Netherlands, Kody Gakpo looks to be the leading candidate for the Golden Boot.
The Liverpool forward scored in all three group matches and is his team's top scorer at the 2022 World Cup with three goals.
The 25-year-old has made 23 international appearances so far, scoring nine goals.
Regular Premier League fans will remember Gianluca Scamacca, who had a short stint at West Ham in the 2022-23 season, scoring just three goals in the league.
However, the 25-year-old has found his best form since returning to Atalanta, scoring 19 goals in all competitions to help the Italian team win the Europa League.
He scored his first goal for his country in Italy's defeat to England in a qualifier at Wembley Stadium in October.
Robert Lewandowski (Poland)
Robert Lewandowski's Poland broke Wales' hearts with a penalty shootout victory to become one of the final teams to book a place in Germany.
The 35-year-old knows well where the goals are: he is Poland's all-time leading scorer with 82 goals in 148 appearances, and has scored more than 600 goals for club and country in a 19-year career.
He played at Euro 2020, scoring three goals, and this summer's Euros will mark his sixth major international tournament.
Another player who needs no introduction: soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who at 39 years old shows few signs of slowing down.
He is Portugal's all-time leading scorer with 128 goals, and also the most capped player with 206.
This summer will mark his 12th international tournament and, having topped the goalscoring charts with five goals at Euro 2020, he will have the chance to win the Golden Boot for the second time in a row.
Harry Kane (England)
Harry Kane, England's all-time leading goalscorer, will once again be at the centre of the team's hopes of ending 58 years of suffering this summer.
The England captain comes into the tournament on the back of an impressive first season with Bayern Munich, in which he scored 45 goals in 45 appearances.
Despite a successful individual season, Kane's long wait to win the first honour of his career continues as Bayern finished the season trophy-free.
Popular French striker Kylian Mbappe is considered the favourite to be the top scorer at Euro 2024 by bookmakers.
The 25-year-old has scored 46 goals in just 77 appearances for France, who are bidding to win a third European Cup after successes in 1984 and 2000.
Mbappe won the Golden Boot award at the 2022 World Cup after scoring eight goals, including a hat-trick in the final against Argentina.
Rasmus Højlund is a rising star in Danish football and is already making his mark on the international stage.
The 21-year-old made his international debut in a European qualifier against Finland in March 2023, scoring a hat-trick, and finished the season as the team's top scorer with seven goals in eight appearances.
He moved to Manchester United from Atalanta for £72million last summer and, despite an up-and-down season, scored 16 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions and was instrumental in helping the Red Devils win the FA Cup.
Scott McTominay (Scotland)
Scott McTominay was Scotland's keeper during the qualifying campaign, with the Tartan Army qualifying for a second consecutive European Championship.
The 27-year-old became his country's top scorer in the qualifiers with seven goals, only Lukaku, Kane and Ronaldo managed more.
Like club-mate Rasmus Hojlund, McTominay travels to Germany in high spirits after helping Manchester United beat rivals Manchester City to win the FA Cup.
Aleksandar Mitrovic will be a key player for Serbia as they approach their first European Championship as an independent nation.
The 29-year-old Serbia international is Serbia's all-time leading scorer with 57 goals in 89 appearances and also topped the national team's scoring charts with five goals in the qualifiers.
Mitrovic has enjoyed a productive season at domestic level since moving to the Saudi Pro League from Fulham in August, scoring 39 goals in just 42 appearances in all competitions as Al Hilal won the title.
Zeki Amdouni was one of the stars of the European qualifiers, scoring six goals in just five games as Switzerland qualified for a sixth consecutive major tournament.
During that time they have only made it past the last 16 once, reaching the quarter-finals at Euro 2020.
Amdouni, who scored six goals in 36 appearances for relegated Burnley last season, is likely to be a key figure if the team is to progress in 2024.
Alvaro Morata (Spain)
Alvaro Morata will not only be in charge of the Spanish national team, but will also captain the team as they aim to win their third title.
The experienced Atletico Madrid forward, who played for Chelsea for three years between 2017 and 2020, has made 74 international appearances and scored 34 goals.
No other player on Spain's Euro 2024 squad has yet to reach double figures in goals.
Niklas Flukrug (Germany)
Niklas Flukluk might have had to wait until he was 29 to make his international debut, but he is certainly making the most of the opportunity.
The 31-year-old Borussia Dortmund striker has scored 11 goals in 15 international appearances and is set to spearhead the home side's attack this summer.
He scored 15 goals for Dortmund last season and helped the team reach the Champions League final, where they lost 2-0 to Real Madrid.
