Fluid Watercraft, a manufacturer of commercial rigid inflatable boats, has announced the hiring of former marine patrol officer Blake Young as the newest member of its team to manage government sales in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States.
A veteran of criminal justice having served as a police officer, deputy sheriff and maritime law enforcement officer, Young began his career as one of the youngest candidates to graduate from the North Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, earning his state law enforcement certification. During his career as a LEO, Young earned his Tactical Boat Pilot and Boat Crew Member certifications from the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, Urban Search and Rescue Orientation Deployment Certification from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and multiple maritime security certifications from the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Institute.
“I have a deep understanding of the critical role that quality vessels and equipment play in keeping our communities safe. Relying on first-class vessels and equipment strengthens our ability to effectively respond to emergencies and maintain the integrity of maritime law and search operations.”
With more than 15 years in the public safety field, including 10 years in law enforcement, Young now manages Fluid Watercraft's Northeast and Mid-Atlantic sales region, covering states from Maine to Georgia. He focuses on working with federal, state and local community emergency responders and LEO agencies to meet their needs with vessels such as the Patrol Cabin 29, a 28-foot, 11-inch patrol vessel, and the Search and Rescue 23, a 23-foot, 7.5-inch SAR vessel.
“We see this transition as an opportunity to provide critical equipment to agencies to protect our communities and continue to serve our communities in a different capacity,” Young said.
