Explore Hyatt Kids Club: Our Newest Initiative to Make Family Travel Easier and More Enjoyable
Our daughter is now old enough to enjoy being away from us and loves making friends with other kids. When we stayed at the Park Hyatt St. Kitts in February, she wanted to spend all her time at the kids club there (the “Island Fort Kids Club”). Plus, while there used to be a fee, it's now completely free.
So we were looking for a kids club as part of our family trip. Hyatt is perfect for such trips because as a frequent guest, you get a guaranteed suite upgrade and can reserve a suite with cash or points at the time of booking for the same price as a regular room. This gives your family the space they need.
So, what I look for in a family trip is Hyatt Kids ClubThe Park Hyatt St. Kitts has a great club, as does the staycation-friendly Hyatt Regency Lost Pines (not far from Austin airport), and you can find the Hyatt Kids Club as an amenity on the chain's website.
When I stayed at Andaz Papagayo before my daughter was born, I had a look at the kids club. It used to be free during the day, but now they charge for many activities. Officially it's for ages 4-12, but they apparently accept 3-year-olds during off-peak hours. They also offer babysitting services and evening activities for an extra fee.
The Andaz Papagayo Kids Club is a converted Presidential Suite with thoughtful nooks and crannies, kid-friendly restrooms, an indoor playhouse and an outdoor area. The woman running the Kids Club when I visited seemed like one of those really special people who loves interacting with, teaching and caring for kids.
The Andaz Mayakoba also appears to have a great kids club, and what’s nice for me is that the Cancun airport is only a 2.5 hour direct flight from Austin and is served by both American Airlines and Southwest Airlines.
I like the Park Hyatt brand, and maybe the Alila in the Hyatt ecosystem, but visiting the big resorts in Nassau would open me up to a world like the Grand Hyatt Bahamians, with its game zones, wildlife viewing, and the possibility of playing with lots of other kids. is open Despite being located next to areas devastated by bushfires, the resort still offers water sports and swimming lessons for children, as well as rooftop astronomy programs.
Closer to home, on Florida's west coast, the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort also appears to have a pretty good looking Camp Hyatt.
Many hotels around the world used to have kids' clubs, but they closed during the pandemic and have never reopened, so there aren't as many options as there used to be. When researching kid's activities at resorts, it's important to check the latest information.
For example, there is a lot of outdated information about Camp Hyatt at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort (on the Nevada side), but you won't find it on the hotel's website – you'll have to call the hotel to find out if Camp Hyatt is still open.
When traveling with my wife and daughter, I plan to try out every Hyatt club I can find, as I can’t count on an upgrade based on availability at check-in and I also want to enjoy the kids’ club. I might even decide on the Grand Hyatt Bali over Alila Villas Uluwatu, as my daughter loves the kids’ club experience so much.
