As a travel writer, I'm on the most extreme step count: I'm sitting at a desk (or by the pool, or on a hotel balcony, or on a plane) typing furiously all day, and my step count is very low. or I wake up early in the morning to explore whatever magical destination I'm researching for my next story, easily clocking in 15,000 steps in a day. As I've been living this lifestyle for nearly a decade, it's taken some trial and error to find ultra-comfortable shoes that will keep me company on my various journeys. But this season, I hit the jackpot with a pair of cloud-worthy sneakers.
The Vivaia sneaker slides have quickly rocketed to the top of my favorite sneaker list. I'd go so far as to say they're the ultimate summer adventure sneaker – a must-have if you're planning on being outside for the next few months.

When you slip your feet into these unisex sneakers, they feel as supported and gently wrapped as possible. Yes, we say slip in, because these sneakers are easy to slip on and off hands-free, making them ideal for traveling. While you don't always have to take your shoes off at security these days (TSA Pre-Check to the rescue!), I love how easy it is to slip these sneakers on and off during long-haul flights when I need to get up and walk around a bit or go to the bathroom. I only tied them once, and the laces maintained a perfect bow the whole time.
A sleek, classic sneaker silhouette, the Vivaia Sliders are made from ultra-lightweight, breathable mesh fabric. I never felt like my feet were too hot or needed a break while wearing these shoes, which I found tend to swell in Miami's blistering heat. “I knew my feet would swell a little, so the sizing was spot on,” agrees one shopper who bought them for a trip to Europe and Asia, adding, “They were easy to put on and take off in Japan, and I walked up to 10 miles a day with no issues.”
I first tried these shoes out on a “hot girl walk” with some friends and they passed with flying colors. Speaking of colors, the Vivaia sneaker sliders come in 11 colors for the mesh version and 7 colors for the wool version, making them the perfect transitional shoe for the changing seasons. They are now available in 8 colors for kids too.
Another great thing about these shoes is that they are machine washable. So It removes stains easily. I have the white one, and it's pure white. I'm very serious about keeping my shoes as clean as possible, and so far the Magic Eraser has been a great help in keeping my shoes clean in between washes. (In fact, one of my most overlooked travel tips is to always carry a Magic Eraser in my luggage to give my shoes and Away luggage a quick clean – I do!)

With 718 five-star reviews on Vivaia's website, it's safe to say people are starting to realize that these sneakers are a great option for summer. “I love these shoes. They're so comfortable,” one shopper swears by the sneakers, echoing how easy they are to put on and take off, while another called them “a versatile shoe that's great for traveling.”
Vivaia shoe sizing is based on European sizing standards, and as I'm normally a US size 7, I opted for an EU 38, which was a perfect fit for my feet. I love how the tongue of the shoe fits like a sock, providing great ankle support with absolutely no break-in period. Many shoppers agree, with tons of reviews saying things like, “Super comfortable from the first time you put them on” and “Lightweight and quick to put on, no break-in period needed.” One person described them as “like wearing hard marshmallows on your feet.”
I chose my usual size, but some reviewers recommend going up a size if you have wide feet or any foot conditions. That being said, some people with bunions or hammertoes have had success with the Vivaia sneaker sliders. One person wrote, “I wore these for five weeks straight on a trip to the UK, walking five to 10+ miles every day. I have very soft feet and I have both regular and tailor bunions, and my feet never hurt in these.” Another person who enjoys long walks said that after suddenly developing foot problems like bunions or calluses, he bought a half size larger than usual and “walked for miles with no issues.”
