Georgia had to make multiple staff changes during the offseason, but it looks like there could be even more changes coming after the 2024 season. David Cobb of CBS Sports ranked seven coordinators who could become head coaches in the next cycle, including both Georgia defensive coordinators Glenn Schumann and Travaris Robinson.
Schumann was the first person Smart hired on his staff after leaving Alabama, serving as inside linebackers coach for his first three years before being promoted to co-defensive coordinator in 2019. He took over the primary role after Dan Lanning transferred to Oregon in 2022. Schumann had already been listed as a candidate for multiple positions and was the leading candidate for the Eagles defensive coordinator position last offseason, but ultimately opted to remain with the Bulldogs.
Robinson is new to the Georgia staff, but his reputation and experience are impressive. Robinson was recruited by Smart to be co-defensive coordinator this offseason after spending two years as cornerbacks coach at Alabama. He is highly regarded as one of the best recruiters in the conference. Prior to his time at Alabama, Robinson was defensive backs coach at Miami and defensive coordinator at South Carolina under Will Muskamp.
Kirby Smart already has an extensive coaching staff under his belt, with Mel Tucker, Dan Lanning, Shane Beamer, Sam Pittman, Fran Brown and Del McGee all serving as assistants under Smart before moving on to head coaching duties.
