Travelers returning home from Memorial Day weekend destinations on Monday saw a common occurrence over the holiday weekend: delays and cancellations.
Flyers over the long weekend tried to avoid bad weather at both the beginning and end of the weekend in order to get to their destinations on time. Some had more luck.

“Everything was pretty smooth. I flew in on Wednesday evening. Nothing particularly notable. And then today we were delayed an hour, but it wasn't bad at all,” said Avery Ojimpuku, a Manhattan resident.
For others who were unlucky, flight delays meant a change of plans.
“I missed my ride and I have to get an Uber,” said Bronx resident Skylar Shaw.
“The original plan was to get back here early and enjoy Memorial Day,” said Oluwole Adeyomoye, a New Jersey resident. “Looks like I'll have to get ready for work tomorrow and get some rest.”
According to the TSA, five of the 10 busiest days for travel have occurred in the past two weeks, and the busiest day in its 22-year history was Friday, when a record 2.95 million passengers passed through TSA screening points.
While waiting for a flight can make some travelers uneasy, Isaiah Baldwin said he welcomes the delay.
“It's been great. I just spend the rest of my time with her. She lives in Atlanta and I live in Chicago,” Baldwin said. “It's been going pretty well actually. We've been spending a little bit more time together.”
AAA said 43.8 million people will move more than 50 miles from their homes.
If that figure holds up, it would be the second-highest Memorial Day travel forecast since the organization began tracking the numbers.
