Texas Tech baseball pitchers gave up three runs in the seventh inning off four walks and a wild pitch in a win over Oklahoma State in the second round of the Big 12 Tournament on Wednesday night at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
The Red Raiders had 14 strikeouts in the game, their pitching staff gave up 13 walks, and two wild pitches led to a 7-2 loss to second-seeded Oklahoma State.
The Red Raiders (32-25) improved to 1-1 in tournament play following Tuesday's win over Texas. They will face Cincinnati in an elimination game on Thursday at 4 p.m. The Bearcats eliminated the Longhorns from the tournament earlier Wednesday.
Gavin Kash hit a two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning, closing the gap to 4-2. Tech used three different pitchers under the frame. Carson Baugh walked the first two batters to get on base. Derek Bridges struck out one batter, Cole Kearse walked the next two batters, and catcher Gavin Kash threw the ball to complete the comeback.
Oklahoma State scored on three walks with the bases loaded, two wild pitches, and a two-run home run by Zach Erhardt in the bottom of the first inning.
The Red Raiders have lost 12 of their past 15 games.
Drew Woodcox struck out three times, and TJ Pompey and Cade McGee each had two.
Zach Erdman had a decent night on the mound. He pitched four innings, allowing six hits, three runs, three walks, and four strikeouts. Tech used eight pitchers in the game, three of whom faced only one batter each.
