Leadoff hitter Zack Morris hit two home runs and drove in five runs as sixth-seeded Duke beat No. 10 Virginia Tech, 11-8, on the first day of pool play in the ACC baseball tournament in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Tuesday night.
Former Ocean Lakes High star Carson DeMartini hit a three-run homer and David McCann also drove in three runs as the Hokies (32-21) led 5-0 after two innings.
Virginia Tech will face third-seeded North Carolina State in the second game of pool play on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Morris' three-run home run gave the Blue Devils (35-18) a six-run lead in the third inning, and they never relinquished the lead. Logan Bravo and Chase Krewson each scored two points to extend Duke's lead.
The Hokies used seven pitchers, with starter Wyatt Parliament giving up four runs in 2.1 innings, and reliever Matthew Shivering (2-2) giving up two runs in 1/3 innings to take the loss.
Duke's James Tallon (2-0) came in relief and held starter Ryan Higgins to just one run in 1.2 innings after he gave up four runs in 1.1 innings.

Miami 8, Louisville 5: Freshman Daniel Cube hit a program-record-tying two three-run homer and No. 11 seed Miami defeated No. 7 Louisville.
Miami (25-29) will play No. 2 seed Clemson on Thursday. Louisville (32-23) will play the Tigers on Friday to conclude pool play. The four best-performing teams within their respective pools will advance to Saturday's semifinals.
Cuvette made his first at-bat in the postseason and hit a three-run home run over the right-center field fence in the first inning. He also hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, tying the rookie record set by Pat Burrell in 1996 with 23 home runs.
Florida State 12, Georgia Tech 9: Drew Forrow went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, including a 1-of-4 home run, and the fifth-seeded Seminoles defeated ninth-seeded Georgia Tech.
Florida State (40-14) continues pool play Friday against No. 4 Virginia. Georgia Tech (31-22) will play the Cavaliers today.
Marco Dinges hit Florida State's first home run of the game in the first inning. Folow, Daniel Cantu and Jaime Ferrer each hit two runs in the middle innings for an 8-1 lead. It was Ferrer's 16th game of the season.
