The Ducks will host the Women in Sports Weekend presented by Pacific Premier Bank on March 23-24. In honor of Women's History Month, the Ducks will celebrate and highlight pioneers in women and women's sports with the goal of inspiring the next generation of Orange County athletes and leaders.
The expanded two-day event will kick off on Saturday, March 23 at Great Park Ice & Five Points Arena with Los Angeles Lakers Governor Jeanie Buss as the headline guest speaker. The festivities continue at the Honda Center on Sunday, March 24th, when the club hosts its second annual Women in Sports Business Leadership panel discussion prior to the Ducks' matchup with the Tampa Bay Lighting (5:30 p.m.) do.
The Ducks are hosting the second annual all-female organization of women in sports business and leadership, featuring a star-studded lineup of inspirational women, including the Vice President of Hockey Operations for the Women's Professional Hockey League (PWHL) The next panel discussion will be held on Sunday, March 24th. Annie Camins, UFC fighter (No. 8 strawweight ranking), Mackenzie Dern, Hockey Hall of Famer, longtime Los Angeles Times columnist, Helen Elliott, and Dennis White, CEO and founder of EAG Sports Management. This panel will be moderated by Ducks Stream host and broadcaster Alexis Downey. In honor of Women in Sports Night, panelists will participate in the ceremonial puck drop before the Ducks vs. Lightning game.
The Women and Leadership in Sports Business panel discussion will be held in the Honda Center's Brewery X Beer Garden. Check-in for the event begins at 2:30 p.m., and the panel discussion is scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m.
The Women in Sports Weekend, presented by Pacific Premier Bank, will officially kick off with Jeanie Bass on Saturday, March 23rd at 9:15 a.m. at the Great Park Ice & Five Points Arena. An inspirational discussion entitled “Overcoming Obstacles” featured Peak Performance Training CEO and Athlete Mindset Coach Annie Camins, Adrian Roberson, the first female public speaking announcer in the history of the Baltimore Orioles, and Olympic Gold Medal. It will feature accomplished women in the sports industry, including medalist and motivational speaker Stasiana Winfield. to follow. Three-time Emmy Award-winning sports broadcaster and Ducks rinkside reporter Arie Rozoff will serve as host and emcee for the event. Participants will also have the opportunity to test their skills on the ice and learn the basics of hockey. On-ice sessions will take place on Rink 4 and will be led by female coaches including Annie Camins, Director of the Lady Ducks Women's Hockey Program Kristi Kehoe, and two-time Olympic medalist Molly Schaus. In addition, female Dax staff members from various roles within the organization will be on-site to connect with young professionals in attendance and provide career advice during open networking events.
Check-in at Great Park Ice & Five Points Arena begins at 8:30 a.m. and the event begins at 9:15 a.m.
Adrian Roberson will become the first woman in Anaheim Ducks history to serve as public address announcer in honor of Women in Sports Night, which will be held at the Honda Center on March 24th. In addition, Esther Anaya, the official DJ of the Los Angeles Chargers, will make her NHL DJ debut on Women in Sports Night, and Ducks Broadcaster Alexis Downey will be hosting the Ducks, where Allie Kay will be the in-arena host. He will continue his role as host and reporter for stream broadcasts. . Select members of the Ducks staff will be highlighted throughout the evening for their accomplishments as women working in the sports industry. During the first intermission, Mackenzie Dern, along with 2023 Beach Volleyball World Championship gold medalist and Orange County native Kelly Chen and Sarah Hughes, will be signing autographs and doing handshakes on the main concourse near Section 208. . Chen and Hughes will represent Team USA this summer during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
A number of participants from the Ducks' women's hockey program and initiatives will be in attendance to celebrate “Women in Sports Night.” This includes “Learn Her Way” presented by 24 Hour Fitness and “We Play Her Way” presented by Pacific Premier Bank programs, as well as members of the Lady Ducks hockey team. The Lady Ducks join the Ducks on the blue line during the national anthem and appear as blue line buddies. Lady Ducks players will also participate in a pregame Zamboni ride and on-ice activities during the first intermission. Orange County Girl Scouts will participate in color guard during the national anthem, and in addition, the top two Orange County Girl Scout cookie sellers will enjoy a Zamboni ride during the second intermission.
The Ducks will host an in-game auction featuring a variety of sports memorabilia, including PWHL jerseys donated by numerous organizations. All proceeds raised from the Anaheim Ducks Sports Night Women's Auction benefit the Orange Her County Girl Scouts, whose mission is to develop girls with courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.
