Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team and Sentinel One are partnering to revolutionize cyber security in motorsport and improve safety on and off the track. We took the stage together at America's largest cybersecurity event to share how we do it.
Data is the lifeblood of Aston Martin Aramco. Teams process vast amounts of data in the pursuit of success, and this data must be fully protected to remain competitive.
When Aston Martin returned to F1 in 2021, we partnered with SentinelOne as our official cybersecurity partner, enabling us to manage and protect our data with unrivaled intelligence and speed.
And after the 2024 Miami Grand Prix, we headed to the RSA Conference, the largest cybersecurity event in the United States, where SentinelOne and the rapidly evolving world of cybersecurity in motorsports took the stage.
As part of an enlightening panel discussion hosted by The Female Quotient, Aston Martin Aramco CIO Clare Lansley was joined by SentinelOne Chief Marketing Officer Sally Jenkins to discuss cybersecurity in both motorsport and wider business. We talked about the importance of They will also be joined by Jessica Hawkins, head of F1 Academy at Aston Martin Aramco, and Tina Hausman, F1 Academy driver, to discuss how women are challenging stereotypes in the worlds of motorsport and cyber security. I looked into what was going on.
Here are some key insights and thoughts from a thought-provoking discussion…
Sally Jenkins talks about the origins of the natural partnership with Aston Martin Aramco:
“Aston Martin Aramco and Sentinel One both represent precision and innovation. We are technologically advanced, data-driven and AI-focused, leveraging data autonomy to We are ensuring everyone's safety.
“Aston Martin Aramco continues to travel the world with all its races and the data that must be kept safe, and data is what drives racing, so this seems like a natural partnership. I thought so.” [when we joined forces in 2021]. We are proud of the progress we have made over the past few years through the partnership of our two major brands. ”
Claire Lansley and Sally Jenkins discuss the role of AI in revolutionizing cybersecurity in motorsport and other industries.
C.L.: “Over the last 18 months, we have grown significantly as a team, going from 500 to 800 employees.
“If you think about Trackside Profile, we have around 150 people participating in 24 events around the world. It’s important that we not only keep data, devices and servers safe, but also people’s personal devices. is.”
S.J.: “The benefit of SentinelOne's AI-powered platform is that it brings all data into a secure data lake, empowering IT teams to take the lead and combat any threat.
“This allows IT teams to be more proactive about the insights they are gleaning from their data and what actions they need to take from that data.Building a business on data companies need to think about how to protect their data and how AI can play a role in that.”
Claire Lansley talks about how cybersecurity is driving safety on and off the track.
“You need a cybersecurity strategy. You need policies and protocols in place. These adversaries are constantly evolving. Your strategy and processes need to evolve in real time to respond to these threats. ”
“IT is as important to the running of an F1 team as engineering. If you're trackside and IT goes down, you're blind. It completely impacts your race strategy. All of a sudden, tires and other components I don't know how it works.''
“Sensors alone capture 50 billion data points per vehicle per race. All of that data must be transmitted securely to the AMR technology campus. If you don't put the components in the wind tunnel, it will completely affect your on-track performance. ”
Sally Jenkins talks about the similarities between women in cyber and women in motorsport:
“Working with a female CIO can be a rarity, so I joined Claire here to hear how she leverages the power of SentinelOne to protect data and I'm excited to see how important it is to race.
“Highlighting women in cyber is just as important as F1 to promote diversity, and The Female Quotient has raised awareness of how many more women we need in F1 and cyber.” and Thank you Deloitte.'' Voices of women currently working in these industries. ”
Jessica Hawkins talks about how sport is driving diversity, empowering women and paving the way for a more inclusive future.
“Compared to 20 years ago when I started racing, there are so many more women in this sport. This gives us an example for the younger generation and we can follow in their footsteps and get involved in motorsport. They know they have a career path.”
“We are not there yet in terms of ratios and we still have a lot of work to do, but we are certainly a lot further along than when I first started.
“What the F1 Academy is doing, and what the W Series has done in the past, is giving drivers like Tina and myself an opportunity that they probably wouldn't have had without them. It's also giving the next generation an opportunity to see a career in motorsport.''
Tina Hausman turns dreams into reality:
“I love everything about this sport. I love being a racing driver, I love the travel, I love the data analysis, I love the athletic side behind the sport. It's really great. I can't imagine doing anything else. was.”
“The slogan for this year's RSA conference is 'The Art of the Possible' and that's so inspiring because as long as you believe in it and pursue your dreams, everything is possible. To truly make it all happen. If you give it your all, it's no longer a dream.'' It's possible; it's true. ”
