Over the past 40 years, Ghost Busters Fans have enjoyed a variety of video games based on the series, including the first two films and an adaptation of the Commodore 64 animated series. In today's headlines, a new fan-made game based on the classic comedy has just been released. The story of The Commodore is set inside the haunted Sedgwick Hotel in New York City.
Gameplay is simple and requires the player to find and capture Slimer three times. To do this, use Proton's pack to reduce Onionhead's health while zapping at the tip of the stream. Once weakened enough, the spud will slow down and open its mouth. This is the signal to throw the trap. For bonus points, there are fast-moving black ghosts floating around, as well as randomly placed ones that you can find to replenish your health. Twinkies.
Footage of the game, created by David Izon, first began circulating in 2021, but the project is believed to have been shelved that same year. Izon unexpectedly released the demo earlier this week, admitting it was unfinished, and adding: “It’s not as polished, and I think the fun factor lasts all 60 seconds, but I hope you like it for what it is.”
Despite being unfinished, this final update appears to have added some features not seen in previous videos. This includes an additional floor of Sedgwick that can be accessed after clearing the stage and riding the nearest elevator. Also, on the end screen, instead of telling you your wish, “Congratulations!!” Just like in the NES video game, Gozer the Gozerian comes to our world and announces complete destruction.
