For those who need a reminder, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (available on Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch) centers on Senua, a Celtic warrior who embarks on a vision quest into Viking Hell to fight for the soul of her dead lover. This BAFTA-winning title is notable for its frank and innovative approach to mental illness, along with its excellent story and characters.
The sequel, announced in 2019, once again centers on Senua, who embarks on a “cruel survival journey through Viking Icelandic mythology and pain” with the aim of saving people suffering from Norse oppression. Senua no longer sees her condition as a curse and uses it to help her fight.
Hellblade II Featuring a revamped combat system from its predecessor, it aims to give players an intuitive feel to combat, and is “designed to make you feel like you're really there.” [Senua]”.
