The University of New Brunswick (UNB) is pleased to announce this year's prestigious Mastercard Cybersecurity Scholarship recipients, Vaishnavi Shanmugam and Erika Thea Ajes.
The Mastercard Cybersecurity Scholarship, generously funded by Mastercard, provides $25,000 to each recipient to support educational travel in the Master of Applied Cybersecurity (MACSec) and Research Intensive Cyber Knowledge Studies (RICKS) programs. To do. This funding helps offset costs associated with tuition, materials, and other education costs.

Shanmugam and Thea Ajes are enrolled in UNB's MACSec program and are scheduled to graduate in August 2024. After graduation, she will join the RICKS cohort in September 2024 and receive practical cybersecurity training at the Canadian Cybersecurity Institute (CIC).

Thea Ajes is passionate about software security from a cyber perspective. Her goal is to develop software that is resistant to cyberattacks and contribute to a safer digital environment.
